Frequently Asked Questions

Will the RV‑X‑TENDER fit my RV ladder?

It clamps to a standard factory RV or truck camper ladder with no drilling and no permanent modification. Adapters are available for 1.0″ round and 1.0″ square ladder rails, and split collars are available for the Northern Lite 10-2.

Does it work with a rear awning?

Yes, and that is the case it was designed for. On truck campers a closed rear awning stops the factory ladder from reaching past the roofline. The RV‑X‑TENDER stows nearly flat against the ladder so the awning still closes, then pivots up when you need the roof.

Do I need to drill into my camper?

No. It mounts to the existing ladder using clamps, so nothing on the camper is drilled or permanently altered.

How long does it take to put up?

The arms pivot into the upright position in seconds, and no tools are needed.

Do you ship internationally?

Due to the size and value of the RV‑X‑TENDER, international shipments can incur significant shipping, import, customs, brokerage, tax, and carrier processing fees that are not included in the product price shown at checkout. Recent international shipments to Canada have resulted in additional import-related charges exceeding $200 CAD depending on carrier, province, and shipment value. Please contact us prior to ordering so we can review the best shipping options and help estimate total landed costs.

What should I do if the left locking handle contacts my awning arm?

Stow the RV‑X‑TENDER, then extend and retract your awning, making sure it rolls up evenly and tightly.

With the left arm in the upright position, and before you lock the mounting clamps, check that the left arm points straight ahead or very slightly outward toward the driver's side.

What should I do about rust on the locking handles or center pins?

Wire brush each location with a light bristle wire brush and apply a thin coat of WD-40.

If this rust becomes more of a concern, we do offer a stainless steel hardware kit. Email info@krechtechnologies.com to order one.

Maintenance

RV roof maintenance you can finally keep up with

Almost every job that keeps an RV watertight happens on the roof. When getting up there feels risky, those jobs slide, and a small seam becomes a ceiling repair. Here is what a safe ladder lets you stay on top of, and how often it actually needs doing.

  1. Wash the roof, 2 to 3 times a year
Dirt, leaves and tree sap hold moisture against the membrane and wear down coatings. Parked under trees, make it three or four.
  2. Check the seals every 90 days
Vents, skylights and the front and rear edges are where leaks start. Most manufacturers ask for a seal check quarterly and a full reseal about once a year.
  3. Clean solar and check mounts, twice a year
Dusty panels lose output, and the sealant around every mounting bracket is another place water gets in. Same trip, two jobs.
  4. Clear the air conditioner shroud
Leaves and grit pack into the fins and the unit works harder for less cold air. Five minutes up top saves a service call in July.
  5. Inspect before storage and before the first trip
A roof that goes into winter with an open seam comes out of it with a stain on the ceiling. Look before you cover it, and look again in spring.
Tip: Make Ladder Access Safer

Every one of these is a repeat job, not a one time job. That is the real argument for the RV‑X‑TENDER: when the climb is steady and your hands have something to hold, the maintenance actually gets done.

Installing it

Watch it go on

The whole fitting, start to finish. It clamps to the side rails of the ladder you already have, so there is no drilling and nothing permanent. If you are deciding whether you could do this yourself, this is the answer.

Still stuck?
